Imagine spending more time watching movies instead of endlessly scrolling, trying to find the right one. Twinkle is an entertainment discovery app that aims to become the go-to destination for users overwhelmed by content choices, being a cinematic compass that combines the best of artificial intelligence with human intuition to transform how people find and share films they'll love. With successful fundraising from investors and the European Institute of Technology Culture & Creativity, we're now working to build the B2C app and bring it to market later this year.
What you'll be working on
- Leading the Flutter frontend of Twinkle — developing a cross-platform entertainment discovery app for iOS, Android, and Web from architecture through to a polished, launch-ready product
- Implementing and evolving the BLoC-based state management architecture, ensuring clean separation between the presentation, application, and data layers
- Integrating with a serverless AWS backend (Lambda, GraphQL and AppSync) and working across the full data flow — from API communication and local caching through to responsive, fluid UI
- Owning quality across the Flutter app by writing unit, widget and integration tests, maintaining CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions and Fastlane, and shipping reliably to App Store, Google Play, and Web
- Collaborating closely with design and backend to define and ship features at pace, using feature flags (Flagsmith) to manage controlled rollouts and iterate quickly based on real user feedback
What we're looking for
- You have shipped Flutter apps to production and you know what it takes to get to launch — you understand performance, maintainability, and cross-platform edge cases, and you have a proven track record of delivering, not just building
- You are confident integrating with GraphQL APIs, especially AppSync and AWS Lambda functions, and working with backend systems
- You are Flutter-first but full-stack capable — comfortable making meaningful backend contributions in TypeScript/Node.js when needed, so you are never blocked and the team ships faster as a result
- You operate in an AI-native way — you actively use AI-assisted development tools to move faster and think more clearly, and you stay genuinely curious about how AI capabilities can be integrated meaningfully into the products you build
- You have a flexible approach to challenges, coupled with the readiness to pivot as required in a dynamic startup environment
- You align with Malao's strong value set of truth, justice, courage, gratitude and joy, demonstrating integrity and a willingness to collaborate with others, and enthusiasm for personal and professional growth in an environment encouraging open communication and candour
